Support for Neha Nair - Former Sr Community & Social Media manager at Crystal Dynamics

The Issue

On Wednesday, 20th September 2023, Neha Nair, Sr Community & Social Manager at Crystal Dynamics, more specifically for the Tomb Raider franchise, announced that the role of Sr Community & Social Manager was laid off.

We, Tomb Raider fans, would like to acknowledge the incredible passion and enthusiasm that Neha brings to the Tomb Raider community. Neha’s unwavering commitment to making the environment welcoming and inclusive is inspiring. It is thanks to Neha’s collective efforts that we have built a strong and supportive community where everyone feels valued and heard.

In the spirit of continuous improvement, Tomb Raider fans would like to understand how the role of Sr Community & Social Manager would not be required in the upcoming months, with the impending Tomb Raider releases across multimedia platforms. With Tomb Raider trending in several multimedia platforms across the global internet, it would be deemed beneficial for the Tomb Raider community, and the Tomb Raider Official Fansite Program to be guided via a Sr Community & Social Manager during this time.

Neha Nair has already been present and has excelled in this position for the previous three and a half years, it could be considered counterproductive to introduce a new manager at this time, as new relationships and dynamics would need to grow during a period of time of asset promotion.

Whilst we understand there must be business factors to take into account, under the present circumstances, it may be beneficial to consider the impact on the community during a time of what should be positive promotion and organization. This value is priceless.

A great example of this is how Neha kept the Tomb Raider community alive during a very quiet period of time. Neha orchestrated a year-long event called #TR25, which featured videos, community live-streams, interviews and many different types of content. This event ignited the creativity and discussions in the community and kept the spark going, in what otherwise would have been “nothing”, including no ongoing advertisements for Tomb Raider.

At this point in time, we believe the Tomb Raider franchise is at the dawn of having numerous exciting announcements: the Netflix series, the Tomb Raider remasters, the upcoming game featuring Unreal Engine 5 are just a few examples to quote as to why the community would strongly benefit from having a positive, passionate and professional figure such as Neha.

The Official Fansite Program and the Tomb Raider community would like to thank Neha so very much for being an integral part of this incredible community. Her dedication, creativity and kindness have nurtured and helped grow the Tomb Raider community, as we embark on the next stage of thrilling Tomb Raider ventures.

If, as a Tomb Raider community member, fellow worker in the gaming industry or a casual gamer, you want to show support to Neha and would like to know more detail of the decision taken by Crystal Dynamics, please consider signing the petition.
