We, the patriotic Ethiopians and Ethiopian origin Canadians living in Canada, proudly express our unwavering support for the successful conduct of the 7th National Election in Ethiopia. At this critical moment in our nation’s history, we believe that a peaceful, democratic, and credible electoral process is essential for ensuring stability, unity, and long-term progress.

Ethiopia stands at a crossroads. The path forward must be guided not by division or conflict, but by a firm commitment to democratic principles and constitutional order. We strongly believe that the political challenges facing our country can only be resolved through lawful, inclusive, and peaceful means rooted in the Constitution. Even if the constitution has problems, throwing it aside for a “transitional government” is risky. The constitution is what makes power legitimate and keeps it in check. If we bypass it, we are opening the door to lawlessness and turmoil. The consequences of temporary fixes often don’t stay temporary; it has the risk of dragging our country in to vicious cycle of instability and sufferings. 

If change is needed, it should happen through the constitutional process. That’s slower, but it’s what protects stability, fairness, and the rule of law.

In this spirit, we call upon all stakeholders, including political parties, government institutions, civil society organizations, and citizens to act responsibly and constructively. Every actor has a vital role to play in safeguarding the integrity of the electoral process.

Specifically, we urge:

• All political parties to engage in peaceful competition, respecting the rule of law and democratic norms.
• Government institutions to ensure a transparent, impartial, and secure election environment.
• Civil society and community leaders to promote dialogue, tolerance, and national unity.
• All stakeholders to reject unconstitutional actions and instead uphold the constitutional framework as the sole legitimate path for political engagement.

This election must not only be an event, but a testament to Ethiopia’s commitment to democracy and the will of its people. Let us rise above our differences and work together to ensure that this process reflects the hopes and aspirations of all Ethiopians.

We stand united in our belief that peace, democracy, and constitutional order are the foundations upon which a stronger Ethiopia can be built.

Let this election be a turning point toward unity, stability, and democratic progress.

7ኛው የኢትዮጵያ አገራዊ ምርጫ ሰላማዊ፣ ዴሞክራሲያዊ እና ተዓማኒነት ያለው ሆኖ እንዲጠናቀቅ ድጋፋችንን እንገልጻለን፤

እኛ በካናዳ የምንኖር አገር ወዳድ ኢትዮጵያውያን እና ትውልደ ኢትዮጵያውያን ካናዳውያን፣ በአገራችን ኢትዮጵያ ለ7ኛው ጊዜ የሚካሄደው አገራዊ ምርጫ በተሳካ ሁኔታ እንዲካሄድ የማይናወጥ ድጋፍ የምናደርግ መሆኑን በኩራት እንገልጻለን። በአገራችን ታሪክ ወሳኝ በሆነው በዚህን ወቅት፣ መረጋጋት፣ አንድነትን እና አስተማማኝ እድገትን ለማረጋገጥ ሰላማዊ፣ ዴሞክራሲያዊ እና ተዓማኒነት ያለው ምርጫ ማካሄድ የማይተካ ሚና ያለው መሆኑን እናምናለን።

አገራችን ኢትዮጵያ በመስቀለኛ መንገድ ላይ ትገኛለች። አገራዊ ጉዟችን በመለያየት ወይም በግጭት ሳይሆን ለዴሞክራሲያዊ መርሆዎች እና ለሕገ መንግሥታዊ ሥርዓት መከበር ባለን በጽኑ ቁርጠኝነት መመራት አለበት። አገራችን የገጠማት የፖለቲካ ተግዳሮቶች ሊፈቱ የሚችሉት በሕገ መንግሥቱ ላይ በተመሠረቱ ሕጋዊ፣ ሁሉን አቀፍ እና ሰላማዊ መንገዶች ብቻ እንደሆነ አጥብቀን እናምናለን። ሕገ መንግሥቱ ችግር አለበት ብለን የምናምን ሰዎችም ጭምር በስመ “የሽግግር መንግሥት” ህገመንግስቱን ወደ ጎን ለመወርወር የሚደረገው ጥረት አደገኛ ነው ብለን እናምናለን። ሕገ መንግሥቱ ብቸኛው የሥልጣን ምንጭ እና ​​የህገመንግስታዊ ስርዓቱ የሚመራበት ሰነድ ነው። ይህንን ችላ ብለን በስሜት የምንመራ ከሆነ ግን፣ ለሕገ-ወጥነት፣ ለሁከት እና መበታተን በር እየከፈትን እንደሆነ ሊታወቅ ይገባል። ጊዜያዊ ማስተካከያዎች የሚያስከትሉት መዘዝ ብዙውን ጊዜ ጊዜያዊ አይደሉም፤ አገራችንን ወደ አስከፊ አለመረጋጋት እና ስቃይ የማስገባት አደጋ አለው።

በህገ መንግስቱ ላይ ለውጥ መደረግ አለበት ብለን የምናም ቢሆንም፣ ይህ የሚሆነው በህገመንግስታዊ አካሄድ ብቻ ሊሆን ይገባዋል ብለን በጽኑ እናምናለን። ይሄኛው መንገድ ቀርፋፋ ሊመስለን ይችላል፣ ነገር ግን መረጋጋትን፣ ፍትሃዊነትን እና የሕግ የበላይነትን ባስጠበቀ መልኩ የምናስበውን ለውጥ የሚያስገኝልን ብቸኛው መንገድ ነው።

በዚህ መንፈስ፣ የፖለቲካ ፓርቲዎች፣ የመንግሥት ተቋማት፣ የሲቪል ማህበረሰብ ድርጅቶችን እና ዜጎችን ጨምሮ ሁሉም ባለድርሻ አካላት ኃላፊነት በተሞላበት እና ገንቢ በሆነ መንገድ እንዲንቀሳቀሱ ጥሪ እናቀርባለን። እያንዳንዱ ተዋናይ የምርጫ ሂደቱን ትክክለኛነት በመጠበቅ ረገድ ወሳኝ ሚና ይጫወታል።

በተለይም፣ የሚከተሉትን እናሳስባለን፦

• ሁሉም የፖለቲካ ፓርቲዎች የሕግ የበላይነትን እና የዴሞክራሲያዊ ደንቦችን በማክበር ሰላማዊ ውድድር ውስጥ እንዲሳተፉ።
• የመንግሥት ተቋማት ግልጽ፣ ገለልተኛ እና ደህንነቱ የተጠበቀ የምርጫ አካባቢን እንዲያረጋግጡ።
• የሲቪል ማህበረሰብ እና የማህበረሰብ መሪዎች ውይይትን፣ መቻቻልን እና ብሔራዊ አንድነትን እንዲያበረታቱ።
• ሁሉም ባለድርሻ አካላት ሕገ መንግሥታዊ ያልሆኑ ድርጊቶችን ውድቅ እንዲያደርጉ እና በምትኩ ሕገ መንግሥታዊ ማዕቀፉን እንደ ብቸኛ ህጋዊ የፖለቲካ ተሳትፎ መንገድ አድርገው እንዲደግፉ።

ይህ ምርጫ የአንድ ጊዜ ክስተት ብቻ ሳይሆን፣ ኢትዮጵያ ለዴሞክራሲ እና ለሕዝቦቿ ፍላጎት ያላትን ቁርጠኝነት የሚያሳይ ሆኖ መጠናቀቅ አለበት። ከልዩነቶቻችን በላይ ከፍ ብለን ይህ ሂደት የሁሉም ኢትዮጵያዊያንን ተስፋ እና ምኞት እንዲያንፀባርቅ አብረን እንስራ።

ጠንካራ ኢትዮጵያ የምትገነባበት ብቸኛ መሠረት ሰላም፣ ዴሞክራሲ እና ሕገ መንግሥታዊ ሥርዓት ነው በሚለው እምነታችን አንድ ላይ ጸንተን እንቆማለን።

ይህ ምርጫ ወደ አንድነት፣ መረጋጋት እና ዴሞክራሲያዊ እድገት የሚያመራ አዲስ ምዕራፍ ይሁን።
