The Issue

We, the undersigned residents, strongly support the proposed change of use of the former developers’ sales office at High Elms into a new branch of Riverside Medical Centre.

Over recent years, our local area has experienced significant growth due to the completion of two new housing developments. While this growth is positive, it has placed increasing pressure on local health services. Patient numbers at Riverside Medical Centre have risen substantially, and the existing facilities are now struggling to meet demand.

As patient numbers continue to increase patients will start to experience longer waiting times, difficulty securing appointments, and overcrowded facilities. This is not due to a lack of effort by staff, but simply a lack of physical space. Without additional room, it will become increasingly difficult for the Medical Centre to provide safe, timely, and effective care to the community.

The developers’ sales office presents an ideal solution. It is:

  • Already built and suitable for conversion with parking facilities
  • Located close to the growing residential population
  • Easily accessible for patients, including families, elderly residents, and those with mobility needs

Granting a change of use would allow Riverside Medical Centre to expand its services, improve patient experience, and better support both existing and new residents. This proposal represents a sustainable and practical use of an existing building, rather than new construction, and directly benefits the wider community.

Access to healthcare is a fundamental need. As our neighbourhood grows, our healthcare provision must grow with it. Approving this change of use is a responsible, forward-thinking decision that prioritises community wellbeing.

We urge the relevant planning authority to approve this application and support the expansion of Riverside Medical Centre for the benefit of current and future residents.
