The Issue

College of DuPage states that they are committed to being an institution of diverse and equal opportunity employment as stated here. We demand that the College of DuPage establish specific diversity targets and publish annual reports on hiring practices to ensure accountability. Given the underrepresentation of Black students, prioritizing the hiring of Black staff and faculty is crucial to provide relatable mentors and support systems.

Black students already serve as a minority at College of DuPage, making up only 7-8% of the student body. Black students make up only 7-8% of the student body, a minority that faces isolation and difficulty navigating the institution. Studies show that students need individuals who understand them and can guide them through their unique experiences.

Historically, Black professionals in education and the workforce have faced systemic racism, discrimination, and barriers to advancement. Only 6% of all full-time faculty in degree-granting postsecondary institutions are Black, a statistic that demands urgent action.

This statistic highlights the need for immediate action to address racial disparities in faculty representation.

Join the movement- by signing this petition to urge the administration to address hiring disparities and implement policies that create a truly inclusive and supportive educational environment. It's time to move beyond empty promises and demand the equity we were promised.
