Given the underrepresentation of Black students, prioritizing the hiring of Black staff and faculty is crucial to provide relatable mentors and support systems.

Black students already serve as a minority at College of DuPage, making up only 7-8% of the student body. Black students make up only 7-8% of the student body, a minority that faces isolation and difficulty navigating the institution. Studies show that students need individuals who understand them and can guide them through their unique experiences.
