Through a Freedom of Information request, letters submitted by Pastor Doug Harris to the Deer Park ISD Board of Trustees have been released. These letters confirm what his sermons suggested: that his opposition to Dr. Tiffany Regan was never about qualifications—it was a coordinated campaign based on her sexual orientation.

In his letter, Pastor Harris writes:

“She does not have the morality necessary for such a high-level leadership position… She lives an openly lesbian lifestyle… It is still sinful, immoral, ungodly, and unacceptable for someone serving as Superintendent.”
He goes on to claim that her worldview is:

“corrupted and sinful… skewed and immoral… and will have devastating effects on our school district.”
These aren’t concerns about experience. They’re attempts to disqualify a public servant based on identity, in violation of the very principles of equity, fairness, and legality that public schools are required to follow.

This is targeted, religiously motivated discrimination—documented in writing and submitted directly to the board in an attempt to derail a legitimate hiring process.

It is clear that this campaign wasn’t about leadership—it was about exclusion.

We continue to call on:

Deer Park ISD to remain firm in their support for Dr. Regan.
The community to reject hate and identity-based bias.
