This week, the Texas Pastor Council issued a public letter defending Pastor Doug Harris and doubling down on the attack against Dr. Tiffany Regan—not based on qualifications, but based entirely on her identity as a gay woman.
“Ms. Regan cannot separate her worldview and deeply embedded sexual identity from her actions. Our concern is that the profoundly disturbing pattern of the LGBTQ+ to push that agenda on our children is simply irrefutable.”
This statement—endorsed by a network claiming to represent over 500 pastors and churches—makes one thing clear:
This is no longer about one pastor’s opinion. This is a coordinated religious campaign rooted in fear, discrimination, and misinformation.
These leaders claim they are defending “freedom of the pulpit,” but let’s be honest:
• They are using tax-exempt religious platforms to organize against a public official based on sexual orientation.
• They are equating LGBTQ+ identity with harm, and suggesting someone cannot lead because of who they are.
• They are ignoring Dr. Regan’s nearly 30 years of service and reducing her to a stereotype.
We will not stand by while this kind of discrimination is normalized under the guise of “morality.”
We stand with Dr. Tiffany Regan.
We support the Deer Park ISD Board for focusing on leadership, not identity.
We call on the broader community to reject this dangerous, coordinated campaign.
