For families without a garden, Downhills Cafe is a lifeline. Its accessible play opportunities allow children to explore, learn, and socialise in a nurturing environment. Especially during the summer months, the water play area has been an essential sanctuary for children to cool down amidst the heat waves that have become more frequent and intense. The small houses and toys are much loved year round, available without the need to book and - importantly - are free at a time when many families are struggling due to the cost of living crisis.
The importance of community spaces like Downhills Cafe cannot be overstated. They bring people together, support mental well-being, and offer an inclusive environment for families who might otherwise feel isolated. The cafe's contributions to our local community extend beyond a business transaction—they are the heart of our neighbourhood's social fabric.
