The Issue

My community is at an important turning point. Utility bills keep going up, and many families are feeling the strain. The decision being made right now will affect our daily lives. This is about fairness. Big electricity users should pay their fair share.

Large users of electricity, like data centers, use huge amounts of power. They put a lot of stress on our electric system, but they often don’t pay enough to cover the real cost of what they use. That means regular people—families—end up paying more.

Right now, the system allows these big companies to pass their costs onto everyone else. This is unfair, especially to people who are already struggling to pay their bills. The Commission is considering a new rule that would require large users to pay more for the electricity they use. This would help lower the burden on everyday residents and make rates more fair.

Studies show that data centers can use as much electricity as a small city. If fair rates are put in place, these companies would no longer get special treatment. This could help reduce costs for regular customers. This is not about stopping growth or success, instead, it’s about fairness and responsibility.

We need to come together and support this change. Making sure large facilities pay the true cost of their electricity helps build a fairer and more reliable energy system for everyone.

Your voice matters. By signing this petition, you are standing up for fair energy costs and a stronger community. Together, we can ask the Commission to make a decision that supports fairness, responsibility, and a better future for all.

This decision is part of Docket No. 25-0826. It would create a rule so big power users pay for the strain they put on the grid — instead of shifting costs to us.

It takes about one minute, and it shows strong public support for fair electric rates.
