The roller hockey rink at Palmetto Golf Course has served generations of youth players, adult players and families for nearly 30 years, but the facility has not received the long-term improvements needed to keep up with the size and needs of the community.

Miami-Dade County is currently making several much-needed improvements, including resurfacing the rink, repairing damaged concrete, replacing fencing and kick plates, and repainting the boards. Our community is extremely grateful for this investment.

However, the rink still faces long-term challenges as an outdoor facility, including frequent rainouts, extreme heat, continued exposure to the elements, limited amenities and aging infrastructure. These issues lead to canceled programs, lost playing time and continued wear on the facility.

We are asking Miami-Dade County to build on the progress already underway by continuing to pursue long-term improvements such as a roof or covered structure, improved access to water and restrooms, better seating and storage, and other upgrades that would make the facility safer, more reliable and more useful for the entire community.
