The Issue

For many years, Coach Curtis Dunham has been a pivotal figure in the Douglasville community, dedicating his time and energy to the youth of our town. As a passionate and devoted coach of the Hunter Park Monarchs, Coach Curt has volunteered his time to teach children from t-ball to 14u, instilling not only skills related to sports but also values such as teamwork, perseverance, and respect.

Coach Curt has been a positive role model for my children, and countless others, through the years. His involvement has gone beyond merely coaching games. He has been a mentor, a guide, and a friend to many families within our community. His stellar track record speaks volumes, having coached the Monarchs for four years with integrity and dedication.

However, Douglas County Parks and Recreation is attempting to ban Coach Curt due to an incident that did not reflect his character nor his contribution to our community. The incident in question involved an altercation where a grown man hit his 10-year-old son, and Coach Curt's name has become unjustly associated with it. While there have been occasions when other coaches have truly stepped out of line at the ballpark, Coach Curt should not bear the burden of this unfortunate incident.

Coach Curt's record as an outstanding citizen and a champion of youth sports in Douglasville should be celebrated, not tarnished by a misguided ban. He is not just a coach; he is a pillar of our community whose removal would leave a void that cannot easily be filled. We must come together and protect a person with such a positive impact on our lives.

Please support Coach Curtis Dunham by signing this petition. By standing together, we can show Douglas County Parks and Recreation that their decision is not in the community's best interest and urge them to reconsider this ban. Sign this petition to keep Coach Curt on the field where he belongs and continue inspiring our children and community.
