Support calls for government and industry to back free and accessible financial mentoring
The issue
Please sign to support FinCap's calls for government and industry to back free and accessible financial mentoring across Aotearoa.
We’re asking government and business leaders to take immediate action to provide increased and ongoing funding for essential financial mentoring support in communities.
Financial mentors help with more than just household budgets. With many people struggling through debt and accessing the essentials, financial mentors are the solutions-focused, non-judgmental experts who help untangle complex financial challenges.
Financial mentors are essential to the financial wellbeing of our communities but they are struggling to keep up with the increasing number of whānau needing help.

Recent research shows a 57% increase in the number of whānau working with a financial mentor in the last five years but no increase in steady funding.
Financial mentors receive under half the steady funding they need just to maintain their current service levels.
We need government and industry to help secure $30.5 million more funding each year so every kiwi can access an expert financial mentor when they need one.
