I've been a resident of the Bronx for 28 years. I have kids. When my kids want to go ice skating, we have to go to another borough or Westchester because the Bronx is the only borough that doesn't have access to an ice skating rink. But why? 

I then started to wonder, where do Bronx kids go ice skating? Do they even know how to ice skate?  Do any of them ever wonder what it's like to glide on the ice, spin around like a figure skater or skate full speed like a hockey player or speed skater? Do any Bronx kids dream of being a figure skater or a hockey player?  And if they did, will they ever get the chance? Probably not, unless their parents take them to the other boroughs or Westchester for them to get lessons. 

I think it's time to bring back ice skating in the Bronx. Sure we had one in Van Cortlandt Park but that was shut down 10 years ago. Before that, it was located in Riverdale... 50 years before! 

Mayor Bloomberg was the last mayor to try to bring ice skating in the Bronx. Let's try again Bronx! 

Please sign this petition to bring an ice skating rink back to the Bronx. A proper rink so we can cultivate future Bronx figure skaters, speed skaters and hockey players. A rink where we can open to the Bronx residents ALL YEAR LONG.
