The Issue

My name is Dr. Russell Landry, MD. My family and I live in Clarksville off Exit 8. I am a proud husband and father of three amazing daughters. My wife and I moved to Clarksville in 2020.

I am a board certified Emergency Medicine physician. My story in Clarksville began during COVID because our community needed an ER physician and my family needed a community. Most days, I am in the Emergency Rooms of all our hospitals in the Clarksville area. My patients are all of you, your family, and neighbors. I strive every day to make a difference for my patients. When they struggle, I share in their anguish. Our community is lacking the high quality, patient centered care that is available at Ascension Saint Thomas. This is why we need Ascension Saint Thomas to build a new hospital in our community.

My family and I have traveled to Saint Thomas Midtown for health care. I have transferred patients in every Emergency Room in our area to Ascension Saint Thomas. A large number of my patients desperately need the comprehensive care offered at this hospital system. It is time we have access to Ascension Saint Thomas closer to home.

Clarksville and Montgomery County are growing fast, but our healthcare options have not kept up. A lot of us, especially families, seniors, and veterans, have to leave town to get surgery, maternity care, or other important treatments. That means long drives, delays, and not enough choices when it comes to our health.

That is why this new hospital matters. Ascension Saint Thomas wants to build a full service hospital right here in Clarksville. If approved, it would give Clarksville citizens more healthcare options close to home. If it is not approved, we are stuck with the same limited choices and too many of us will keep traveling just to see a doctor.

The time to speak up is now. The Tennessee Health Facilities Commission is reviewing Ascension Saint Thomas' application and there is a public hearing on July 23rd. Our community leaders need to hear from us; your voice matters. Come to this meeting and share your personal stories. Show the commissioners that Clarksville needs compassionate, patient centered care from a faith based, non-profit community hospital called Saint Thomas Clarksville.

Please sign and share this petition to help make Saint Thomas Clarksville a reality for us all to experience.
