Bring Ford Gobike to 24th Street, San Francisco. Cheap, clean, healthy transit for all.

A small but vocal group claiming to speak for all of The Mission is fighting the inclusion of the Ford Gobike bikeshare system on 24th Street. They say that an affordable, clean and healthy bike transit system will cause gentrification in the neighborhood.

Gentrification is real but bikeshare is not the cause but rather a part of the solution. Bikeshare will allow more longtime residents to live without the expense of owning a car and will leave those who must drive with more parking, less congested streets and cleaner air.

Detractors have said that bike share is for the rich. Its not. if you qualify for Calfresh, SFMTA (Low Income) Lifeline Passes or PG&E CARE utility discount you can get a year of unlimited one hour rides for $5.00.

You can use your clipper card to access the bikes (Bike Share for All members get them for free, a $3 value), so you don't even need a smartphone to access. You can pay for Bike Share for All in cash at several in person locations in SF and the East Bay.

Contrary to fake news you might have heard, there is no GPS or telemetry on the bike that tracks where you ride. The only data that is shared is outlined here - all anonymized and used by cities and researchers to inform public policy transportation decisions.

(Plus, these bikes are convenient and damn fun to ride!)

Gentrification comes from bad planning, not sustainable transit choices. Sign this petition today and share the heck out of it!
