This petition is to help get justice for Xander and his Mom, Cassie . In April, on the first day of riding the bus in over 2 years, Xander was chatting with his friends, with his head in the aisle of the bus. The bus monitor yelled towards the front of the bus for him to sit up, but he was unaware that she was talking to him. Rather than walking up to him and asking him to sit up, the bus monitor walked up behind him, and without warning, slapped him in his face to make him sit up straight in his seat. As she slapped him, and moved him to sit down, she was yelling at him, accusing him of "acting a fool" while on the bus, and telling him his behavior was unacceptable. Xander was sitting face forward talking to his friend, and had no idea that the bus monitor was coming up behind him. He was not given the opportunity to prepare, or to protect himself. Xander was in shock and confused as to why an adult who is in a position to protect him, was slapping him for talking to his friends. He is 7 years old! Everywhere that his Mother has turned, although everyone has agreed that the bus monitor is in the wrong, and deserves to face consequences, she has been told that this situation isn't serious enough to prosecute, although the incident was caught on video. This woman is unworthy of working with children, and should have to answer for her actions. Children have rights too!
