As the year winds down and compassion is on our minds, I want to ask something simple: can you spare $10 for fish who are suffering, hidden away by a powerful industry?
Fish are the most exploited animals on the planet—and they are deliberately kept out of sight. Today, industrial fish farming is the fastest-growing form of factory farming, but also the most invisible because it happens underwater, far from public view.
Yes, I want to help protect fish
The aquaculture industry claims these are peaceful, pristine farms. In reality, they are crowded, filthy pens where fish endure chronic disease, injuries, and parasites. On many farms, 1 in every 5 fish dies before slaughter.
The fish farming industry has learned that if suffering happens underwater, it’s easier to deny, sanitize, and sell. Corporations invest heavily in glossy “sustainable seafood” messaging while keeping journalists, advocates, and consumers away from the cages themselves. This deliberate distance is exactly what has allowed the industry to expand so rapidly.
That’s why I launched the Aquaculture Accountability Project: to expose what the industry doesn’t want seen, confront the systems that enable this abuse, and push institutions to stop legitimizing fish factory farming.
This holiday season, I’m asking for something small but meaningful: Can you give $10 for fish who can’t escape these floating factory farms?
Yes, I’ll give $10 to protect fish
Your support helps us:
- Expose the reality behind “sustainable seafood” claims
- Challenge an industry built on deceit
- Give fish a voice where they’ve been intentionally silenced
You showed up for hermit crabs when they needed protection. Fish need that same courage and compassion now. Thank you for your willingness to pay attention.
With gratitude,
Laura
