Together, we shut down the only octopus farm in the U.S., saving thousands of octopuses from unimaginable suffering. Now, I'm taking on an even bigger threat: fish factory farming, and I can't do it without your support! Every dollar counts, and donations of $60 or more will get one of these gorgeous handmade octopus art pieces: DONATE TODAY!
Aquaculture, or fish farming, is masquerading as a “solution” to the perils of large-scale fishing. Some of the biggest environmental players are championing the growth of these farms, which are now producing half of global seafood. But aquaculture is nothing more than a new form of factory farming, in which fish are crowded into filthy pens and riddled with parasites, and pollutants spill into the surrounding waters. Even worse—farmed species like salmon are fed wild-caught fish, so these farms actually bolster the fishing industry. This fish meat can even be labeled “sustainable” if bottom trawling was used to produce the feed!
Fish are gentle, curious beings who can even recognize individual humans! They form bonds, use tools, and can even nurture their young—like mother cichlids, who carry their babies in their mouths until they grow big enough to venture out on their own.
With the support of my employer, the Better Food Foundation, I now have a huge opportunity to fight fish factory farming! But I need your help. We are fundraising to take on this massive industry, and until May 31, every single dollar you donate will go twice as far, thanks to the support of a generous donor.
Your support in the past helped me shut down Hawaii’s octopus farm, preventing a whole new octopus factory farming industry from taking root. Earlier this month, I was on NPR talking about my investigation, reaching over 2 million people with a message of compassion for these magical beings!
This new target, the fish factory farming industry, is even bigger, so I need your help more than ever. Can you chip in to my new campaign today? Every dollar counts, but if you donate $60 or more, I will send you a shimmering octopus like the ones pictured to hang in your window in honor of our beautiful sea creatures. These are about 9 inches across, and each one is handmade by me and one-of-a-kind.
Please help me turn the tides for trillions of fishes with your generation donation!
Thank you so much for your support and compassion!
