This year, as part of the Bus Stop Enhancement Programme (BSEP), the NTA has allocated grant funding in the order of €500,000 to County Councils as part of a multi-annual funding programme. The overarching objective of this programme is to upgrade the existing estate of stops throughout the administrative area. However, this funding can be furthermore be used to provide new stops at locations where demand is evident and where there is an existing bus service or where plans are afoot to provide a new or improved bus services. BSEP funding is exclusively to cover works that will be delivered through the Local Authority and to this end, the NTA has begun the process of engaging further with each Local Authority with a view to agreeing a programme of works for 2025 and where possible, 2026 and onwards.
