Kildare Now have stated that 'Kildare car garage to be pulled down to make way for apartment blocks in €17m development' the site in which they are talking about is on the Kilcock to Maynooth road.

I can only direct you to a few other petitions on this platform along with my interview in the Meath Chronicle and my appearance on KFM. The Meath chronicle interview can be view online in these petition updates or via the Meath chronicles website.

People cant be expected to beg for public transport infrastructure after this development is built. Action needs to be taken now to future proof Kilcock.

Schools - as of 2022 schools in Kilcock have turned away potential pupils because of no availability , if we consider the influx of people when these apartments will be built along with the CSO statistics on the growth of the population in Meath ( some of the surrounding areas primary school students filter into Kilcock) and Kildare the schools wont be able to increase intake and so another school will be needed. Tackling this issue before it becomes a problem makes sense.

Playground - There is no areas parents to bring their children to play apart from sports clubs in the area of course. A playground in Kilcock would make a huge difference to mams and dads. Financially it could also save parents money as kids are known to want this that and the other but with free services the parents can keep costs down.

Public transport - A petition along with letters and emails to Dublin Bus, Bus Eireann, TFI , the Minister for Transport , Iarnrod Eireann. The have been asked to extend the dart out as far as Kilcock and Enfield, to bring Dublin Bus back into Kilcock , to increase the frequency of buses and trains in the area , to install stops in convienant locations. The have done nothing to facilitate public transport users. Yet they include us in the commuter belt for Dublin , we build the capitals wealth and get very little in return. Something needs to be done.

Congestion - The area this building site is going to be on isnt fit for purpose unless the council plan to upgrade roads in the area and make a different route for people going to live in the apartments to get in and out because as it stands the daily traffic is a standstill for a couple of hours . God knows what it will be like if they build these apartments.

Parking in the town and bike racks is another issue.

Apartments - Building apartments is a stupid thing to do if they arent going to be 2 and 3 bedroom properties especially with the current housing crisis.

This petition is for better public transportation but only a fool would not mention the other issues that will crop up when this monostrous investment project finishes building these apartments and the people of Kilcock are left to pick up the pieces.
