I was on KFM this morning on Eoin Beatty's programme Kildare Today along with Councillor Tim Durkan from the Clane-Maynooth Municipal District. I spoke about the need for a new stop at Hattons of Garadice and about the need for updates in regards timetables , many of which havent been updated in a long time. I also spoke about the frequency of the services and how Bus Eireann have a service every half hour printed on the timetable but that it isnt a correct representation of how many buses actually stop in Kilcock.
The need for a stop in between the two towns isnt just for a jaunt to Summerhill or Kilcock. The need for the stop is quite clear, many people need to avail of the medical pratices in both areas as well as newly established lyphodema clinic in Summmerhill or to use the Dentist or opticians practices in Kilcock or Maynooth. Thats not to mention all the other social areas for the elderly in both Kilcock and Summerhill visa a vi the meals on wheels programme in Summerhill , the third age group also in Summerhill and the mens shed in Kilcock to mention just a few.
Bus Eireann , TFI and the minister for transport shouldnt take rural services lightly and I wont give up on this issue as Summerhill and Kilcock deserve better.
I would like to thank KFM and Eoin Beatty for giving us an oppurtunity to bring serious issues to the people.
I have been contacted by many representatives and businesses over the last few weeks since I started this petition and most if not all has been positive but your work is not done. The Tds for Meath West along with the council members of the Trim municipal district and the Tds for Kildare North along with the councillors for Clane-Maynooth Municipal District need to get to work on making this service a service to be proud of. TFI and Bus Eireann need to keep updated timetables along with increasing the frequency and making sure services arrive when they should. They also need to install a stop at Hattons of Garadice to make people living in this rural area feel connected.
