The Issue

Suffolk County and Nassau County Towns Must Opt In On Cannabis Dispensaries

Reefer madness is spreading across townships where anti cannabis sentiments still prevail as new legislation challenges a core aspect of many towns and individuals positions against "drug use" for decades. Most of our leaders are completely new to the benefits of cannabis dispensaries in local townships. It's natural to assume, the weight of the positives and the facts really do not effect most of our leaders as much as the anti "marijuana" propaganda they've been immersed in since childhood. Let's not wait for a change of heart or for them to understand better to have our voices heard.

Let's let them know WE make the decisions. WE want the dispensaries.

If we can convince town leaders to go along with dispensaries, we can avoid a drawn out political argument. This is why we have to ensure we have a petition so large with signatures from every single town on LI that there will be no mistake how many people in Nassau and Suffolk want local dispensaries nearby. In their towns. Not in Queens. Not in NYC. Not in MA. Not in Jersey. NOT ON THE STREETThis is Strong Island, New York. Why would we take a seat back during one of the most positive, progressive changes to ever happen to people who consume cannabis? With this petition signed thousands and thousands of times, town members will see what they are up against if they decide to opt out. They will realize not only would an opt out lose when it came to a vote, wasting everyone's time, but the council person will also be losing their seat in the next upcoming election.

Myths: Property values will decrease. Teen use will go up. Crime will go up. Dispensaries are shady places. Only stoners go there.

FACTS: Local dispensaries create healthy economic growth. Property values increase. Teen use goes down. Crime does as well. Local dispensaries are invaluable to people with illnesses such as cancer, epilepsy, ptsd and high blood pressure as they no longer have to scavenge or travel to get their life saving medication. Studies show dispensaries are thorough in ensuring everyone is over 21 and follow strict guidelines for packaging and distribution. They tend to be good neighbors as they appreciate being let into the community. Google Leafly study on debunking dispensary myths for more in depth knowledge.

Sign this petition with your location and in your reason why tell your leaders why it's important to you to have dispensaries in your town! Let them know why opting out is meaningless and a vote for them is at stake if they deny citizen taxpayers this invaluable opportunity.
