Come out to support the library at the County Council meeting tonight. If you care about protecting intellectual freedom, stable leadership, and strong public libraries, your presence matters just as much. This is not about disruption. This is about showing that our community is larger — and more diverse — than a single narrative.

 County Council Meeting

TODAY Monday, March 2

6:30 PM

County Administration Facility – Council Chambers

222 McDaniel Avenue, Pickens

Please consider attending.

If you cannot attend in person, feel free to watch the meeting live here and voice your support in the comments if comments are open. https://youtube.com/@pickenscountysc9035?si=lXfCwQITVhB9xBYI

You do not have to speak. Simply being in the room sends a message that many citizens value:

• Access to information

• Respect for professional librarians

• Thoughtful governance

• Public institutions that serve everyone

If you would like to speak during public comment, you may sign up by contacting the Clerk to Council at (864) 898-5856 or signing up in Council Chambers before the meeting begins.

If you attend, I encourage you to remain calm, respectful, and composed. Our credibility comes from steadiness and clarity — not volume.

Consider wearing something that quietly shows support for libraries (a library shirt, a small ribbon, or simply business attire). Visible unity matters.

Small groups change outcomes by consistently showing up. Let’s do the same.
