As a student, I've had my struggles. Graduation is something that shows that we've accomplished our goal. It's a celebration. In 2013, my grandfather passed away. Before he died, I promised him that I would sing in memory of him. The music department at Sturgis Charter School has been given one slot for the Graduation Ceremony. I believe that they should be able to have more than one. The cited reason is that they want to keep things "simple". This is unfair to the many music groups at Sturgis who would like to show their growth as they are unable to do that. As a student and in memory of my grandfather, I've prepared a song that I've wanted to sing (This is not goodbye by Sidewalk Prophets). This song isn't just about him but our future as well. We need to fight as students for this to be 'our' graduation. This isn't their graduation ceremony, this is ours and it should be how the student body wants it to be. In this petition, I am asking for your support in singing at our graduation ceremony. Give me the opportunity to be a leader and make a change for good :)
