Postpone (NOT CANCEL) the University of Guelph's Summer Convocation

Today, students at the University of Guelph received an email stating that our Summer (June) Convocation ceremonies are formally cancelled (and not yet postponed).

We understand that given the uncertainty of COVID-19, social distancing needs to be our priority. We too have cancelled many plans and events in both our personal and professional lives in order to prioritize social distancing to keep everyone safe. However, our convocation ceremonies are important to us as students, and also to our families. We have not only anticipated this moment since the start of our degrees, but we have planned for our families to attend and celebrate our achievements together as a class.

We are asking you to kindly reconsider this cancellation and give the Class of 2020 the convocation that we all have worked so hard towards by postponing June 2020 ceremonies.
