It has come to our attention that Donald A. Wilson S.S students will now be having two separate lunches as of Monday, December 13, 2021. The first lunch will be for students on the first floor (including portables) and the second lunch will be for students on the second floor. The first lunch will begin around 11:50 am and end around 12:35 pm these students will return to their first class for another 45 minutes while the second lunch is taking place than immediately head to their second class. The second lunch will begin around 12:35 pm and end around 1:25 pm these students will remain on the same schedule as they are now. Students will not be allowed to go to the opposite floors during their designated lunch periods as classes will still be in session. This was decided by the DDSB as a solution to some previous issues that have happened around the school along with overpopulation. Since the lunches are divided by floors and not grades this will do nothing but upset students who cannot see or eat with their friends. This will have an impact on student’s mental health who already feel stressed or alone in classes or at home, for many lunch is the only time to feel relaxed and safe. Sign and share the petition and keep lunch as it is now, one, with no separation or confusion.
