I am a concerned member of the University of Houston community, deeply troubled by the increasing rate of negative incidents within our campus. The feeling of safety is integral to fostering a conducive learning environment. However, recent events have compromised this sentiment, instilling fear and uncertainty among the students.

While the university has a responsibility towards fostering knowledge, it also has a duty of care towards its students. Unfortunately, it's worrisome to note that the number of incidents reported on campus grounds has increased in the past few weeks. This infers a drop in campus safety, causing anxiety among the students, faculty, and their families.

These concerns cannot be dismissed. Therefore, we are urging the University of Houston to bolster their security measures — more patrol officers on duty around the clock, improved lighting in car parks and on campus grounds, and the establishment of a more proactive incident response procedure.

We, as a community, have the right to feel safe on our campus. Our trust must not be eroded due to continued lapses in security. Therefore, by signing this petition, we urge the University of Houston to prioritize their efforts and increase security on campus, making it a safer place for all.
