Our plea starts from a deeply personal and unimaginably painful place – my son was shot and killed by his stepfather, a man who was under a lifetime ban from possessing firearms. Yet, he had easy access to one, causing an irreversible loss, leaving an empty space in our lives that will never be filled. My son, who had dreams of settling down and starting a family of his own, had his future brutally snatched away. We are left filled with grief, questions, and an urgency to act, to prevent other families from experiencing this torment.
