The Issue

It's 5 o'clock in the morning, and I can't shake this feeling of frustration that's been building up. Why is racism so normalized today? Especially online. Just in the past few days, I've witnessed multiple instances of racism, specifically targeting Black people. Why do these hateful comments exist? Something needs to change, particularly on the internet.

Take the Rick Chow case, for example, or the recent Carmelo Anthony incident—whenever a case involves a Black person, the online response often spirals into racism. Comments saying things like "he should be hung" are completely unacceptable. Where does this come from? There was absolutely no reason for a 14-year-old kid to lose his life over four bottles of water that he didn't even take. No matter the case details, racism shouldn't be part of the conversation.

Social media platforms have a massive impact on how we interact and see each other. These platforms need to take responsibility and enforce stronger anti-racism policies. We've all seen how harmful unchecked racism online can be, yet it seems that these platforms are still lacking in proper moderation and support to counteract it.

We demand action from these companies to improve their policies, provide better reporting tools, and invest in more effective moderation to combat racist behavior. By doing so, we can create a safer and more respectful environment for everyone.

Sign this petition to urge social media platforms to step up and commit to stronger anti-racism policies. Let's work together to stop the spread of hate online.
