Stray Animal Crisis: B Their Voice!!!

Stray Animal Crisis: B Their Voice!!!
The Issue
Many Fresno community residents are being impacted and effected by the large numbers of abandoned strays being dumped in their neighborhood. The community is being turned away and directed by shelters staff to commit a misdemeanor crime in violating Califormia Law. You can be fined $1,000 or up to six months in jail. The Fresno City Mayor and Council voted in December 2023 to turn strays away due to shelters being at full capacity. This was the leadership directive in adding to the problem, not solving it. This is a crisis, that's escalated since. In 2025, nothing has changed with no plan in place. It's been accepted in our community to go out and abandon animal's. This is the wrong message to pet owner's and foster's. It's out of control and unacceptable to many. Fresno city/county has been allocated from state post pandemic funds of ARPC - American Rescue Plan Act about $366 million dollars to assist with the homeless issues, of which has contributed to the stray problems. This is causing a safety hazard on our streets and a financial burden for foster's who are compassionate to help these animal's requesting public donations. It's not the community's responsibility. It's Fresno's leadership issue to solve with our tax dollars. Please sign this petition to rescue many animal's who don't choose their owner's. Be their voice! If you luv animal's. ❤️ Please email your City Council and Mayor. I've sent emails which were forwarded to the Fresno Animal Director to deal with my concerns. This is unacceptable as a community member and tax payer. California has over 500 shelters across our state not all areas have experienced the same issue's. The Fresno Animal Shelter state they're unable to provide a healthy environment for the animals but turn many away back out on to the streets causing road kill and stress on the community. We're not a third world country where this is common. Animal's have rights, this is an injustice. This loyal Shepard mix was abandoned by it's owner's who just moved out of their residence. No food, water or care. The dog awaited for several week's for his owner to return. The community fed, gave water until someone had a heart to try to foster or re home. This is one of many strays story and I hope he had a heartfelt ending. 😢 This is not okay for the loyalty they give us.
