Meet Tim Garman. He is running for District 2 Supervisors in Shasta County. We need to vote Yes on the Recall of Leonard Moty. Please follow the link at the end and like his page.

Tim Garman, along with his wife Rebecca, have been longtime residents in Shasta County. Tim and Rebecca met at a bible study and soon fell in love. Tim and Rebecca each had a child when they got married, and then they had three together, bringing the total to five children. They are about to celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary! Tim has never had aspirations of being a leader or gaining recognition. He always seeks to make a positive difference and, because of this, people look to him as a leader. Tim is a family man first, but his first career was as a roofer. He loved hard labor and people called him “the machine” because he never appeared to be working overly hard but at the end of the day, he out-worked everyone else. He never wasted a movement or motion. He had his craft down to a science. He was devastated when he could no longer be a roofer due to knee surgery which resulted in suffering a life-threatening infection and subsequent reaction to the antibiotics. See page 2 for the rest of the article.

Tim says that this adversity was “God’s timing” because he was off work when his family was hit with two more health emergencies. Two of their daughters were diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes three weeks apart. He learned all he could to keep them safe, but he felt like there was not enough support for families dealing with this for the first time.

He was honored when he was asked to speak at the American Diabetes Association Symposium at Mercy Hospital with Francine Kauffman who was the President of the American Diabetes Association. He shared the story of his family and others responded, so he went from seeking support to providing it. Tim and his wife started a support group with monthly meetings at Mercy Medical Center and raised money for the cause. Tim and his wife find great satisfaction in helping newly diagnosed families so they do not have to suffer what they went through.

In 2016, Tim was asked to run for the Happy Valley School Board. He did not have a desire to get into politics. Tim’s friend would not take no for an answer. His friend kept asking him and telling him it was his civic duty because all five of his children went to that district. His mind was changed and also the course of his life was changed when he drove his wife’s van one morning. His wife likes to listen to Christian radio. Usually, he changes it to country but that day he left it on. The speaker on the radio was talking about how important it is for Christians to get involved with local politics and specifically mentioned school board positions. Tim made a deal with God. He would run for the school board, but he would not campaign or put up a single sign. He registered on the last day possible. In Spite of five people running for only two positions, Tim was elected! Tim was convinced this was God’s plan for him. In 2017, Tim started his second career as an in-home salesperson and quickly became an exemplary employee. He was asked to speak at national conventions and other training seminars. He went on to be presented with a Fellowship Award which Tim describes as one of his greatest honors. He was privileged to be honored for helping others. In 2020, Tim made the decision to continue to be on the Happy Valley School Board. On October 3rd, 2021 Governor Newsom made the decision to mandate COVID vaccines for school aged children and teachers. Some of the staff and numerous parents of Happy Valley came together and told the board that they would not have a school if the mandates went through. As president of the school board, Tim was faced with a hard decision. The legal council was advising him to enforce the mandates. Tim believed in people’s right to choose for themselves and their children. Tim, along with his board, voted unanimously to not enforce the vaccine mandate for students and in a 3-1 vote to not enforce vaccine mandates for teachers as well. The community celebrated him.

After giving public comment at the Shasta County Board of Supervisors on the vaccine mandates, Tim was again asked to run for office, this time as a Shasta County Supervisor. Although Tim had no such aspirations, he knew that the timing of this was once again perfect. Signatures for Leonard Moty (Supervisor of District 2) to be recalled were just collected and the recall election was scheduled for February 1, 2022. Tim lives in District 2 and will be running for Shasta County Supervisor District 2 to replace Leonard Moty. Tim believes in local control, personal choice instead of mandates, and constitutional liberties. He wants to be a voice for the people he represents and he wants to end local mandates. Tim wants to bring transparency and community engagement back to district 2. If you would like to learn more about how to help us get Tim elected, please send us a message!
