Volunteer Effort to Recall Supervisor Leonard Moty Qualifies for the ballot.
REDDING, CA — Shasta County Registrar of Voters Cathy Darling Allen announced that her office announced that the recall of Supervisor Leonard Moty has qualified for the ballot.
“This was our top priority,” said Recall Shasta chair Elissa McEuen, “Leonard Moty will have to face the voters. Despite all the challenges of misleading attacks and natural disasters, our effort prevailed. This is a big win that will also fuel our efforts to recall other Supervisors.”
Even after taking the unusual step of moving straight to a hand count of signatures, the committee easily cleared the threshold of 4,308 signatures. The Registrar announced they would submit the Certificate of Sufficiency to the Board of Supervisors on November 2, 2021, along with the recommended election date of February 1st, 2022.
“This shows elected officials that they cannot ignore voters or our rights,” said McEuen. “We are energized and we will hold them accountable.”
