Today is Disability Pride in New York City.  Festivities include a parade and a concert in Union Square, to raise awareness of people with disabilities.  Unfortunately ZocDoc has decided to enforce its new revenue model that led to a ban of patients with Medicare insurance from finding doctors on its website to take care of their health needs.  About 15% of Medicare patients qualify for Medicare on the basis of their disability. In October 2018 ZocDoc informed the doctors on its website that it would accommodate Medicare and Medicaid patients to still be able to use its website despite its new revenue model designed to make money off booking appointments for patients with private insurance. But in April 2019 ZocDoc decided this accommodation was not worth it and changed its tune and decided to ban all patients with Medicare and Medicaid from using its website.  It is likely now in violation of Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act, which mandates accommodations for people with disabilities in places of public accommodation.  Boycott ZocDoc.  Stop using its website to book appointments with doctors.  Just visit doctors’ websites directly and book direct.  If you notice, ZocDoc doesn’t allow doctors on its website to list their own website link.  Use Google Search instead.
