YouTube says it’s “protecting children.”

In reality, it’s rolling out an AI system that guesses your age based on what you watch—and then quietly restricting your account if it thinks you’re under 18.

 

It doesn’t matter if you’re an adult.

One harmless kids’ video can trigger “teen mode,” cutting off your ability to comment, post, or see certain content. YouTube calls it safety. I call it control.

 

This policy went live on August 13, 2025. And while it’s framed as child protection, it’s actually a way to silently filter users, gather more data, and limit what we can see or say.

 

We’re not against protecting minors. But hiding censorship behind “safety” is wrong—and it sets a dangerous precedent.

 

We demand YouTube:

 

Add an opt-out so adults can turn off AI age-guessing.
Publish the rules the AI uses to decide someone’s age.
Offer a human review process without forcing us to give up sensitive ID documents.

 

 

Protect kids—don’t punish adults.
