Stop Your Place Hostel from Evicting Homeless Residents for Profit
A good friend of mine is currently facing an unimaginable reality. As one of the homeless residents of Your Place Hostel (Canning Town) he along with many others, face eviction on 3rd November 24. Their reason? Renovations and a profitable rent deal with a private company. This is not merely a business transaction, but a matter involving the lives of vulnerable individuals who have nowhere else to go.
The latest official statistics show 358,370 households contacted their local authority for support after being threatened with homelessness or losing their home in 2023-24, up more than 10% in a year. Of these, 324,990 were assessed as homeless. The eviction of the residents at Your Place Hostel will only add to an already alarming problem.
Homelessness is not a choice, and it is simply unacceptable for this Housing Association to profit at the expense of individuals who have already fallen on hard times. Let us stand together with the homeless residents of Your Place Hostel. Let us denounce unethical business practices and advocate for the rights of every individual to have a shelter over their heads.
Please sign this petition to show your support for the homeless residents at Your Place Hostel and to send a message to its management that human lives are paramount to profit.
