I got some more confirmation on things, and I don't see the need to keep the petition open. Thank you all again SO MUCH for signing, or viewing (viewed over 250 times? 50 signatures?? That's crazy!). Showing your support means so much, and sharing to people you know shows how connected we are as a school, and that's with minimal sharing. You guys are awesome! First, again, a HUGE thank you to SGPA. There would not have been ANY answers had it not been for them. They're working so hard to get us students what we need to have the best time during our college experience. I will be totally honest, and made this petition without talking to them first. I publicly apologize for that, as I should have used my resources before jumping to something that can be so drastic, but I really appreciate them (especially Alyssa!!) for being so willing to work and get the explanations and things I, and all of us, needed during this. Take it from me: go to SGPA first, y'all, haha. Secondly! Some more answers! SGPA *was* told that the exemption was a FORM, but by my own experience, they just are requiring you to write an explanation for why you want/need the exemption - and then send it to other (presumably) Res Life faculty for review (that's where mine is now!). The biggest two reasons for the policy change: 1, there are little to no RAs that stay during break, and they are not able to pay them more in order to stay, so there's no one watching the students. 2, there is also an incident that occurred last year that was the catalyst for the change, but I don't know if I can/should share it, but know that it was a valid reason. Of course, I still have issues with how it was done, and opinions on what they could have done instead. At this point, though, it's too late, and nothing can be done about the charges for these breaks. The conversation, of course, isn't over, even if the petition is. Thank you guys again!
