Stop Waymo’s Driverless Expansion in Boston

Stop Waymo’s Driverless Expansion in Boston
The Issue
Waymo is testing driverless robotaxis in Boston—with plans to expand across the city. But workers, drivers, and local residents are raising serious concerns.
At a Boston City Council hearing this week, UPS drivers, rideshare workers, delivery drivers, and union leaders showed up in force to demand accountability. Their message is clear: Boston is not San Francisco. Our streets are chaotic, narrow, full of construction, winter snowbanks, double-parked cars, and unpredictable foot traffic. Replacing human drivers with automated systems could be dangerous—and it could also destroy thousands of jobs.
Waymo is already testing in East Boston, Mission Hill, Somerville, and beyond. But these decisions are happening fast, without meaningful public input. City officials must act now to pause further expansion, protect transportation jobs, and ensure safety and labor impacts are fully evaluated before allowing this technology to grow.
Sign now to tell the Boston City Council: don’t let Silicon Valley companies take over our streets without public oversight, safety rules, and worker protections.
