Updates from Stop Warehouses and Trucks
It’s important that you attend two Planning Board Meetings on September 7th and 14th for the two huge warehouses proposed at #189 and #203 Homestead Road that are the size of NINE football fields!!! Your attendance is critical to show the Planning Board your opposition to these proposals that have been under review since 2022. Tell your family, neighbors, and friends to attend! Your voices are important and should be heard.
Both Planning Board meetings start at 7:00 PM in the Municipal Building Court Room. For September 7th, the applicant will present testimony about traffic, operations, planning and architecture. You will have the opportunity to ask the applicant questions about their testimony afterwards.
Before the September 14th meeting, there will be a rally outside the Municipal Building at 6:00 PM. Your attendance will show that many residents are frustrated! Bring signs and your voices and then attend the Planning Board Meeting at 7:00 PM. Before the Planning Board members make a final decision, members of the public can express their opinions and concerns. Please show up so that you don’t miss this opportunity!
Good News!!! We all can make a difference when we speak up! Residents’ opposition to the 9 proposed warehouses have stressed the need for limited truck access in neighborhoods.
A township ordinance was passed to restrict heavy trucks from driving on Willow Road. There is now a four-ton weight restriction on Willow Road between Amwell Road and Hillsborough Road.
This ordinance will prevent tractor trailers from traveling on this portion of Willow Road and restrict access to the proposed warehouses on Homestead Road. This DOES NOT mean the applications will be denied. It DOES mean that all of the trucks will be routed to Route 206 thereby causing additional truck traffic and safety issues; not to mention two more proposed warehouses (#279 and one in the ShopRite plaza) on Homestead Road! The bypass was built to handle truck traffic and the proposed downtown area was meant for local traffic. Does it make sense to have trucks from all four warehouses offload onto Route 206? You have a say in your town and community!
