Stop USDA Political Propaganda

Stop USDA Political Propaganda
The Issue
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is supposed to serve the American people — not a political party. But under the Trump administration, the USDA’s official Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) website published blatantly partisan content that crossed a serious ethical line.
Using taxpayer-funded resources, the USDA promoted a one-sided Republican narrative blaming Democrats for the government shutdown. The post even used inflammatory and misleading language — referring to undocumented immigrants as “illegal aliens” and calling transgender healthcare “gender mutilation procedures.”
This kind of rhetoric is not neutral information. It’s political propaganda — and it was spread through an official federal agency website funded by our tax dollars.
Experts and watchdogs have described this as a “clear-cut violation” of the Hatch Act of 1939, which prohibits government agencies and employees from engaging in partisan political activity or using public resources to influence elections.
When government agencies use their platforms for political gain, it erodes public trust and weakens the integrity of our democracy. The USDA — and every federal department — must be held to a standard of honesty, neutrality, and accountability.
We, the undersigned, call on the U.S. Senate and U.S. Congress to:
Launch a formal investigation into the USDA’s actions and potential Hatch Act violations.
Hold agency leaders accountable for any misuse of official authority or taxpayer-funded platforms.
Pass or strengthen legislation ensuring that federal communications remain factual, transparent, and free of political bias.
Our message is simple:
Government agencies belong to the people, not political parties. We deserve transparency, truth, and accountability from those who serve us.
Sign this petition to demand that Congress protect the integrity of our institutions and stop partisan propaganda in the USDA — and across the federal government.
Add your name to stand up for government accountability and truth.
