Stop Unsafe Schools in The United States of America

The Issue

As a concerned student in the United States, I have observed that safety is a pressing issue in many schools, affecting both students and staff. Despite the advantages of school lunches, free education, and low-cost childcare, the drawbacks are also significant. For example, the alarming number of 346 school shootings nationwide in 2023 is a cause for worry. Moreover, other problems such as inadequate ventilation systems, toxic metals, self-harm, and stalking are prevalent, impacting the well-being of students, staff, and those around them. These issues can result in severe physical and mental health consequences. For instance, toxic metals can lead to toxicity in the body, poor ventilation systems can spread diseases, and school shootings can traumatize students and even cause them to self-harm or avoid school. Additionally, excessive school work can contribute to poor mental health, including depression and other mental health issues. In conclusion, I urge the government to allocate more funds towards school security measures and the provision of adequate materials for schools.
