Petition updateStop unnecessary culling of strays, we should seek fairness not brute. Animal lovers want to save Punggol dogs

Dec 20, 2011 — SINGAPORE: Last week, a young jogger was attacked by a pack of strays in the recently-opened Punggol Waterway park. The Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) told Channel NewsAsia that it is aware of the stray dog situation in Punggol and has rounded up 26 dogs from the area since September, four of them after the incident on December 14. AVA said these four strays were assessed to be aggressive and have been put down. Now, a group of animal lovers are calling for concerted efforts to save the rest of the Punggol strays. Captured strays are eventually put down if no owners come forward to claim them. The volunteers want to find a solution that addresses both public safety and animal welfare. One of them, Dr Siew Tuck Wah, said to effectively control the stray population, dogs should be sterilised and relocated, or re-homed... Refer to the link.
