Stop Unnecessarily Strict Uniform Rules

The Issue

In many schools there are unnecessary rules about uniform which do not help the learning of students in any way.

An example of this is: in the UK, students are challenged and given detentions for wearing jewellery. This includes religious jewellery.

Another example is footwear. Schools in the UK ban their students from being able to wear boots that cover their ankle and trainers. Most students walk to school and with the always changing weather, wearing uncomfortable footwear is a distraction to learning.

The last example I will be giving are socks that girls/young women are allowed to wear. In many school, sock that go above the knee are banned unless they are PE socks being worn for PE. Socks that go above the knee are no hazardous, nor are they a distraction to learning. With all the skirt length rules you might expect schools to be happy that girls are covering their knees, but evidently not.

With new generations starting school every year, the system is becoming more and more out of date. Little changes like this help lead on bigger ones. We are the future. Its time to act.
