Stop Unlawful Commercial Operations at 1925 Nelson

Stop Unlawful Commercial Operations at 1925 Nelson

The Issue

This petition serves to raise awareness about an unlawful commercial business being installed at 1925 Nelson.

Chris and Jamie Steward have leased their home at 1925 Nelson to  "A Vision for You Recovery, LLC" which operates as a group home for recovering drug addicts.  According to the LLC, there will be up to 15 people living in the residence at any given time.  The average stay is 14 months.

Aside from being a clear violation of our residential zoning regulations, as defined by the city of Memphis, we as a neighborhood have concerns about personal safety, additional crime and theft of property, street parking for up to 15 vehicles in front of the residence that does not have a driveway, as well as the disruption to the character and fabric of our historic neighborhood.

We have contacted the OPD to investigate and enforce the proper zoning and operational laws to protect our residential rights and the owners have been cited.  Although they have been explicitly told not to proceed with moving in new residents, they are still planning to move people in on Wednesday, July 10th.

They will be seeking a zoning use variance and we need your voice to continue to fight this from taking place in our historic neighborhood.

Please sign this petition to call for action and restore the peace and safety of our neighborhood.
