We are desperate and urgently need your help.

I honestly never wanted it to come to this and feel awful even having to ask, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

Maureen’s GP has clearly stated in writing that moving her would put her health and safety at serious risk. She could become confused, lost, or suffer dangerous falls. NHG have seen this medical proof but are choosing to ignore it and have decided to move her anyway. She is under-occupied by one small box room which I use to sleep in to provide overnight care one a week so her ADHD grandson who lives there permanently can have a break overnight. It is that one bedroom that NHG are using to warrant her move and although they say is legal, we believe it is completely immoral.

We genuinely need your support to protect Maureen.

This situation is critical. We need your support now.

This is how you and your friends/family/community can help -

  • Please email NHG directly at (info@nhg.org.uk) and share your thoughts. If you believe Maureen should be moved, say so respectfully. If you agree with her daughter and GP that moving her could cause harm, explain why. Kindly suggest she stay in her current home as an act of compassion in these exceptional circumstances.
  • You can also email their CEO Patrick Franco here - patrick.franco@nhg.org.uk
  • You can view her GP letter and see updates about how poorly Maureen currently is here: https://www.tiktok.com/@lisafrompypog

Please remember, kindness matters. NHG staff are people too, so always keep your communication polite and respectful.

Subject: Please Allow Maureen Brum to Remain in Her Home

Dear NHG,

I am writing to ask that you reconsider the decision to move Maureen Brum from her long-time home. At 79 years old, she has lived in this house for many years, and moving her now would severely impact her well-being. Her GP has clearly expressed concerns that relocation could lead to confusion, anxiety, and increased physical risks, including falling.

In light of these exceptional circumstances, allowing Maureen to stay in her current home would demonstrate compassion and a commitment to her dignity and safety. I have personally seen the letter from her GP and videos of her current health condition, both of which strongly support the importance of her staying where she is.

Please take these points into consideration and help Maureen remain in the place she knows and loves, where she is safe and supported.

Thank you for your time and understanding.

Sincerely,

Support Maureen’s GoFundMe if you can. Donations aren't expected but mean a lot, as she’s facing financial hardship due to this situation: https://gofund.me/0c229608
Thank you all so much for your support.

NHG has offered Mum a discretionary tenancy but insists she downsizes from her current three bedroom property to a two bedroom property. They haven't confirmed where yet. Moving would severely harm Mum’s health. The stress from this situation is already making her extremely unwell. She now weighs 5 stone 5 lb. We are currently exploring our options and seeking legal advice, although our hopes aren't high.

This isn't just about housing; it's about basic morality and humanity. That's the heart of the issue for me as her daughter. Her husband was the original tenant and died in 2008. The tenancy was then succeeded based on poor verbal advice from Notting Hill Housing Association. We know there can only be one succession, but these circumstances are exceptional. Her discretionary tenancy should be in the home she loves, not somewhere unfamiliar. Mum’s GP has confirmed that moving her would seriously impact her health.

My mum is 79 and still works six days a week at her small net curtain shop, "Not Just Nets," in Bedfont, West London. Due to severe weight loss caused by stress, her GP has prescribed weight gain shakes and referred her to neurology and a memory clinic. She has high blood pressure and has been waiting over six months for the memory clinic appointment. Meanwhile, her health deteriorates daily. She desperately needs your help.

Mum’s short term memory loss means she struggles with new information. If moved, she will wake up confused, panicked, and distressed every single day. This will accelerate her illness. She could easily get lost, fall, or worse. Her current home has been part of her life for 32 years. She knows her neighbours, local streets, bus routes, and shops. Moving could isolate her completely. If NHG relocates her far away, I'll also struggle to care for her properly. She's worked her whole life, constantly contributing, and now for the first time ever she needs help. Your help.

Thank you from the very bottom of my heart for the love and kindness you have shown us, at the moment it is what is getting me through these dark days.

Please remember to always lead with kindness, it is so important.

Lisa. xx
