Firstly, thank you so much to everyone who has supported my mum’s fight so far. Your kindness, your messages, your donations, your emails. They mean more than you’ll ever know.
Sadly, Mum is still in no better state. Her memory is getting worse still, her weight still dangerously low, and her anxiety is relentless. But we’ve had a small step forward. We’ve been told she should be seen by the memory clinic in the next few weeks. We’re still waiting to hear from neurology too, as we’re convinced she has a form of dementia, most likely vascular dementia.
Despite this, NHG are STILL pushing to move my poorly mother out of her home. Her GP has written a powerful letter making it very clear that a move would pose serious risks to her health including disorientation, anxiety and a risk of falls. He stated she should remain in her current home to prevent further decline.
He also said this:
“Ms Brum relies on the support of family and the familiarity of her community. Moving her away could impact her independence, make her more vulnerable and worsen her health physically and mentally.”
The letter also mentions her rapid weight loss. She was 7 stone 7 and now she weighs just 5 stone 5. Her blood pressure is dangerously high. She’s now on medication for her anxiety and to try and support her weight. The emotional and physical toll is heartbreaking. My once fiercely independent mum now relies on me for so much and it hurts to watch her fade like this.
I sent NHG a formal complaint letter today. I expect a response in the coming weeks. If I’m not satisfied with their reply, I will take it further and raise my concerns with the Housing Ombudsman.
Also, thank you to those who emailed NHG’s CEO. If anyone else would like to send him a friendly message sharing your thoughts, here’s his email:

Today I was supposed to have a call with Shelter’s legal department but they failed to call. I’ll be chasing that up too.
To everyone who has donated to her GoFundMe, thank you. We’ve raised £445 so far and it means the absolute world. She’s struggling to pay bills right now and this has taken some of that pressure off her shoulders. If you’d like to help, the link is here:

And finally, a special thank you to the beautiful souls who’ve sent my mum cards. She’s a sentimental woman and she reads them over and over when she’s feeling low. They make her smile. They remind her she’s not alone. That she’s surrounded by an army of kind, loving people lighting her way. We love you more than you know.
If you’d like to send her a card, you can post it to her little shop:
