These brazen power plays are not just about money—they erode the dignity of tenants, especially vulnerable single mothers and fathers trying to make a home for their children.

We cannot continue to tolerate this behavior in Akron. It is time for local authorities and housing agencies to enforce stricter regulations and conduct regular inspections that ensure landlords comply with their responsibilities without exploiting tenants. Implementing a transparent reporting system for unfair practices would allow tenants to report abuses without fear of retaliation, protecting their right to a fair living situation.
