Stop Unfair Enforcement Against Ralph's Heritage Gardens

The Issue

Ralph Brooks has been a pillar of our community in Coal City, Illinois, with his Heritage Gardens providing much-needed produce to local families. This is the same man who may not know where his next $20 or meal will come from, yet he always ensures that those leaving his home are taken care of, offering what he can, even when he has nothing himself. Ralph has also been known to selflessly give away vegetables to those in need, despite his own financial hardships.

It has come to our attention that the Village of Coal City is imposing unfair enforcement actions against Ralph and his Heritage Gardens, threatening to burden him with unreasonable violations and potential rezoning costs. Ralph's commitment to growing and distributing fresh produce should be appreciated and supported, not penalized. He, and other local small growers like him, deserve the right to maintain personal gardens and distribute homegrown produce in accordance with Illinois state law, without fear of undue legal repercussions.

We demand that the Village of Coal City ceases these unfair enforcement actions immediately. The village should formally recognize the rights of local growers to contribute meaningfully to their community by adopting fair and consistent policies that support, rather than punish, community initiatives. The withdrawal of these unreasonable violations against Ralph and allowing him to continue his agricultural efforts without facing prohibitive rezoning costs is imperative for sustaining our community's values of generosity and self-sufficiency.

Stand with us by signing this petition to help protect Ralph Brooks' efforts and the rights of all small local growers in Coal City. Together, we can ensure that community-focused initiatives like Heritage Gardens can thrive and continue to support those in need. Your signature can make a significant difference.
