The Issue

Tesla owners are facing hundreds to thousands of dollars in repair bills—through no fault of their own. It’s time for Tesla to acknowledge and fix this issue.

Tesla’s Active Hood safety mechanism is designed to protect pedestrians during severe impacts. However, many owners have reported the system deploying unnecessarily, even when the vehicle hits small animals such as cats or dogs—incidents that are far below the hood line and should not activate a pedestrian-protection system. Tesla Active Hood

When this system deploys falsely, owners are left with extremely high repair costs, often running into several hundreds to thousands of dollars, even though:

  • No pedestrian was involved

  • The mechanism appears too sensitive or flawed in real-world situations

  • Owners had no control over the event and did not misuse the vehicle

This issue is not only financially unfair, but also erodes trust in a safety feature that should protect—not punish—Tesla drivers.

We call on Tesla to:

  1. Acknowledge the issue of Active Hood false deployments.

  2. Support affected owners with goodwill repairs, warranty consideration, or cost-sharing.

  3. Update and improve the Active Hood detection logic for real-world conditions.

  4. Be transparent about trigger thresholds and future safety refinements.

  5. Communicate clearly with owners about remedies and improvements.

Tesla has built its reputation on innovation, safety, and customer trust. We believe Tesla can and should do better by addressing this widespread problem responsibly.

We ask all Tesla owners, supporters, and concerned members of the public to sign this petition to urge Tesla to take action. Together, we can make Tesla ownership safer, fairer, and more transparent for everyone.

Sign now and help us push for accountability and change.
