Read my article on how your credit score affects your insurance premium
Hey guys, how are you all doing? I’ve been super busy since launching this petition, and I just wanted to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for your incredible support so far. Honestly, I didn’t expect it to gain this much traction so quickly, and it’s amazing to see how many people care about making car insurance fairer for everyone.
It’s been great reading your messages and seeing how many of you have experienced the same issues with car insurance based on credit scores. I’ve heard from a few friends who’ve shared their stories, and one of them really hit home. A close friend of mine recently renewed their car insurance. They have a spotless driving record, but because they’ve had some financial difficulties, their premium skyrocketed—simply because of their credit score. It’s shocking to think that someone who’s such a safe driver could be charged more just because of their financial history. This isn’t just a random issue; it’s affecting people I know, and I’m sure many of you too.
In fact, I recently did my own test. I put in my details twice—once as employed full-time and once as unemployed. I didn’t change anything else, just the employment status. The result? The quote for being employed was lower, as soon as I changed it to unemployed, the price went up even though nothing else had changed. Same insurer, same details, but a price increase because of employment status. It’s so clear that these kinds of factors, which have nothing to do with driving ability, are unfairly inflating premiums.
If this has happened to you or someone you know, I’d love to hear from you. Feel free to drop me an email at andrea.troy@freepricecompare.com I really want to keep the conversation going and keep sharing stories so we can push for real change together.
