The Issue

President Trump has just ordered what he calls the “single largest Mass Deportation Program in History,” directing ICE to focus its arrests on Democratic-run cities like Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York. This isn't about safety — it’s a politically driven assault on immigrant communities meant to punish cities that dare to oppose him.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump demanded that ICE “do all in their power” to meet extreme arrest quotas — 3,000 people a day — and expand operations in what he called “the Democrat Power Center.” But the facts speak for themselves: less than 10% of people taken into ICE custody recently had serious criminal convictions. This is not about criminals — it's about casting fear across entire communities and disrupting families.

The Trump administration is mobilizing federal agents from multiple departments to carry out months-long raids across more than two dozen cities. In Los Angeles, peaceful protests were met with tear gas and military deployment. In a chilling shift, ICE is arresting people during routine checks, court appearances, and even at work.

While Trump claims to pause raids at hotels and farms, it’s clear that those decisions were made only to protect business interests — not people. Immigrants who help build our economy are being torn from their families in a political stunt aimed at driving fear and division.

We cannot allow our cities to become targets for federal crackdowns. We demand an immediate halt to this mass deportation campaign, the removal of quotas for ICE arrests, and a return to humane, transparent immigration enforcement guided by public safety — not political revenge.

Stand up now. Call on Congress and local leaders to stop this abuse of power and protect our communities.
