Stop Trump from Destroying National Parks!

Stop Trump from Destroying National Parks!
The Issue
I love connecting with nature. And hearing rumors about Donald Trump wanting to destroy National Parks by defunding them and mining rare earth materials from them makes me feel uneasy. Until Congress finally says "screw it" and impeaches him, we must at the very least defy and deny his destructive executive orders. Trump thinks that he is a king that can do whatever he wants. He is not. Not even close. Public lands or any lands for that matter are not his to strip for valuables.
Our National Parks are treasures of natural beauty and biodiversity, serving not only as sanctuaries for wildlife but also as places of respite and adventure for millions of Americans each year. According to the National Park Service, in 2019 alone, more than 327 million recreational visits were made to our National Parks, indicating their immense value to the public. The preservation of these lands is crucial not just for environmental reasons but also for maintaining our cultural and historical heritage.
Reports suggest there are plans to reduce funding, open lands for mining, and implement policies detrimental to their protection — a move that could have irreversible damage on ecosystems and the tourism economy which, according to the National Parks Conservation Association, contributes over $41 billion to the U.S. economy and supports more than 340,000 jobs.
Stopping these destructive plans requires action from all of us. Congress and all branches of government must be held accountable and urged to oppose any de-funding and mineral exploitation in our National Parks. We need to support policies and legislation that will ensure these natural havens remain protected against such threats.
By signing this petition, you are standing up for the invaluable natural beauty and resources that our National Parks represent. Let's protect these irreplaceable lands for future generations. Stand with us to safeguard our National Parks. Please sign this petition.
